Half Whole Wheat Bread
Grandma Fawn Walker

Mix together and let cool
2 cups boiling water
2 Tbsp. salt
½ cup shortening
½ cup honey or brown sugar or molasses

Dissolve 3 pkgs. yeast in ½ cup warm water.
Mix together 5 cups whole wheat flour and 5 cups white flour.
Add 7 cups of the flour mix to the liquid and stir well.
Add yeast and 1 large 12-ounce can of evaporated milk and 2 unbeaten eggs. Mix well. Add the remaining flour mixture and knead for 20 minutes.
Let rise until double in bulk (about 1 hour). Punch down and let rise again. Shape into 4 loaves or 3 large loaves and place in greased pans.
Let rise until double. Bake at 375 degrees for 25 min. Turn down to 350 degrees and bake 20 min more. Double the recipe to make 7 large loaves.
